Lostocker Paul Lacey completed his third half-marathon of 2025 by completing the Wilmslow half-marathon.

This is a well-organised race and almost 3,500 competitors run along some lovely country roads.

There is also a 10k race and both start at the same time from the same point, making it an extremely fast start with the 10k participants pushing the half-marathon runners’ pace.

As a result, Lacey admits he started too fast, settling into mile si averaging 7mins 50secs per mile. Despite knowing he needed to slow down, Lacey did not and by mile nine he was really starting to feel it.

He was taking part with another runner who suffered a hamstring injury so they opted to slow down and run a steady four miles to complete the race together.

Despite the setbacks, Lacey had an amazing race, finishing in 1hr 55mins 33secs.

Jo McManus took on the Liverpool 10 Mile Race as Part of the BTR Liverpool Running Festival, which kicked off at the iconic Liver Building.

As the starting gun fired, the runners surged forward, heading along the waterfront for the first mile before the route took them past the historic Albert Dock. A sharp left on to Parliament Street with a slight climb before completing the loop around Sefton Park. The runners then headed towards Aigburth before the course headed back towards the waterfront, racing back towards the Liver Building.

McManus had a fantastic race, finishing in 1:17:57. She was the 13th female to finish and was fourth in her age category.

Lostock AC are proud of member Jon Tuson who completed his first run since the suffering from a heart attack. Not to start small, Tuson took part in the Canicross Nutters 5.5k with his dog Huxley.

The race starts at Bank Hall Park in Burnley, heading around Rowley. For his return, Tuson decided to start close to the back and competitors were set off in 30-second intervals. Tuson had planned to be sensible and jog round the first 4km, then push from there to the finish if he was feeling strong.

Towards the end, Tuson asked a marshal how far he had left to go and when the marshal replied ‘two minutes’, he felt so good he was able to sprint to the finish.

Tuson had a fantastic race and enjoyed every moment as he also raised money for the Pendle Dogs Charity.

Parkrun results: Bolton - Gillian Caldwell 33:02 (first in age category), Rachel Hancock 33:28; Haigh Woodland - Andy Laycock 24:19 (second in age category), Brian Halton 24:26 PB, Tony Maxwell 24:54 (first in age category), Rachel Stevens 27:52 (third in age category), James Jackson 29:01, Chris Taylor 29:33, Ian Burns 30:04 (second in age category), Cathy Stratton 30:12, Karen Taylor 34:36; St Helens - Hazel Hatfield 22:57 (first female); Worsley Woods - Mark Shuttleworth 24:55.
