A Ryde Harrier athlete has excelled in the Farnborough Winter Half Marathon.

Carly Scoble, of Ryde Harriers fame, achieved a personal best in the Farnborough Winter Half Marathon, following a series of impressive performances.

In February, in an event that attracted nearly 2,500 runners, Carly Scoble showed her mettle on the challenging course which intertwined around Farnborough Airfield and rustic country lanes.

She was quick to find her stride, passing the 10km mark in 38 minutes 25 seconds, then 10 miles in 62 minutes 46 seconds.

Despite the long, slow climbs leading to the finish at the Village Hotel, she maintained her pace and crossed the finish line with a personal best time of 83 minutes 26 seconds.

This event also hosted an England Masters Trial, making the competition exceptionally fierce, with athletes coming from all corners of the UK.

Carly finished an impressive eighth lady overall from the vast field and fourth in her 35-39 category.

Adam Clarke, coached by Geoff Watkin from the Harriers, clinched the overall win, shattering the course record with a swift time of 63 minutes 46 seconds.
