Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on the expected timescale for Dejan Kulusevski’s return, and revealed that all Tottenham players came through Thursday night’s Europa League second leg against AZ Alkmaar unscathed.
Spurs overturned a one-goal deficit from last week’s first leg to win 3-1 at home and set up a quarter-final against Eintracht Frankfurt next month.
Kulusevski remains sidelined after suffering a “knock on the foot” last week. He posted a photo of social media wearing a protective boot and subsequently missed the trip to the Netherlands. His last appearance came in the 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on February 26.
“Yeah pretty good,” Postecoglou said on Friday morning of the state of his squad after the crucial win over AZ.
“Nothing [new] from last night. Everyone got through it well, and no one is coming back in. Obviously, Reguilon and Werner are available. Rodrigo Bentancur is available. Yeah, from last night, nothing untoward.”
Asked for an update on Kulusevski’s recovery, he said: “Like I said before, post-international break we expect him to sort of start to move back towards the team.
“The same [for Kevin Danso], after the international break. We're at the point in the season where everyone wants to push.
“Both those guys are keen to get back into the fold and I think after the international break we don't play until the following midweek so that's a good two and a half weeks for guys like him and Richy [Richarlison] to work hard and speed up their rehab.”
Postecoglou revealed he will make changes to his line-up for Sunday’s Premier League match against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
“Yeah I think so, I think we need to. We saw how hard it is backing up. Sunday-Thursday isn't too hard but Thursday-Sunday is a massive task. It helps that we are at home and with us having a more healthy squad it's good for us to make some changes.”
