A NEW sports centre could be arriving in York under plans submitted to the council.
An application for planning permission from Mr Ben Warn has been lodged to convert an empty two-storey industrial warehouse and office in Green Lane, Clifton, to a facility with four indoor padel courts, two indoor pickleball courts, and a wellness centre.
The racquet sports have become increasingly popular and are described as a hybrid of tennis and squash, with a net crossing the centre of the court in both.
Padel is said to have more than 30 million players worldwide and court dimensions are smaller than a tennis doubles court.
